Bath Salts
I have quit listing bath salts because of low
sales. I apologize if they were one of your favorites. They are easy to
make, so I've included a do-it- yourself formula below.
You'll need a canning jar or recycled jar with a non-reactive lid,
some finely ground sea salt, stainless steel measuring spoon or dropper, and
essential oils. Epsom salts can be added to soothe stiff or sore body parts.
Baking Soda can be added to soften water and soothe irritated skin.
Measure three cups of sea salt into a quart measuring cup.
If you plan to add Epsom salts add 2 cups to the three cups of sea salt
and stir. If you want to include baking soda, add I cup to the salts
mixture. Stir all together until well mixed.
Place half the mixture into the quart jar. For each three cups of salts
mixture add 15 30 drops (1/2 to 1 tsp) of essential oils. Stir and shake
until well blended. It may look a little moist and that's all right, it will
absorb and dry over time. Measure out the rest of the salt mixture (if any).
Add the next quantity of essential oils to the jar, and then add the rest of
the salt mixture. Stir and shake until well blended.
Allow a couple of weeks for it to mellow. You can add a
couple of drops of food coloring if you like.
You can also use salts as a scrub in the shower; just put a few
tablespoons of the bath salts in a small plastic cup, lather up with a
gentle soap, and then sprinkle salts onto your wash cloth and gently scrub
away. Rinse well and gently dry off.
Happy bath salt making!
